Astrology Based Workout Plan

Most if not all workout according to your zodiac articles I have seen focus on your sun sign, say for example you are an Aries then you may enjoy a high energy activity that presents a worthy challenge like mountain climbing. Recently I have been thinking about tailoring my workouts to suit the ruling planet of the day. Then taking into consideration the sign(s) ruled by each planet and using that as a guide to plan the workout. I am self studying the traditional style of astrology and since the distant planets, Pluto, Neptune, and Uranus are fairly recent discoveries they do not rule any signs and the rest of the planets do double duty.

My days get busy and I need the workouts to be something I can stick to. They will need to be versatile so I can do them from home or the gym. I do workout on a regular basis but I am certainly not an expert in the gym. I am just sharing my thoughts hoping to help like minded people.

Monday is ruled by the Moon and the Moon rules the zodiac sign Cancer. Cancer governs the chest. I am thinking:

Set 1

  • Incline Push Ups

  • Dumbbell Chest Press

  • Dumbell Chest Fly

  • Army Crawl Plank

Set 2

  • Lay down fly

  • Single Arm Deadbug Press

  • Narrow Chest Press

  • Cross body bicep curl

Tuesday is Mars’ day and Mars rules both Aries and Scorpio in the traditional style. Aries relates to the head, face, teeth, tongue, hair, arteries, and blood while Scorpio relates to the genitals, urinary, and excretory system. Exercises to get the blood moving and improve my mental focus and mood are what I have in mind.

Wednesday is Mercury’s day and he rules Gemini and Virgo in traditional and modern astrology Gemini governs shoulders and arms while Virgo is the digestive system. I plan to focus on shoulders/arms, core and touching base with my nutrition goals.

  • Concentration Dumbbell curl

  • Tricep Dips

  • Side raises

Set 2

  • Front raises

  • Arnold Press

  • Reverse Fly

  • Skullcrusher




Thursday is Jupiter’s day and in the traditional style Jupiter rules Sagittarius and Pisces. Sagittarius handles the back, hips, and thighs while Pisces is concerned with the pituitary, pineal gland, and feet. To me this says, leg day and hopefully a great leg day that also encourages my pituitary to produce some endorphins.

  • Calf Raises

  • Single Step Up

  • Bulgarian Split Squat

  • Front Squat

Set 2

  • Sumo Squat

  • Romanian Dead Lift

  • Glute Bridges

  • Bird Dog

Friday is Venus’ day, she rules both Libra and Taurus in both the traditional and modern styles. Among other things libra rules the lower back and Taurus rules the neck but I personally honor Venus on Friday with a rest day of self love, pampering, and a date night with my husband.

Saturday as the name suggests is Saturn’s day and he rules Aquarius and Capricorn in the traditional style, so calves ankles, forearms, circulation, and then skin, hair , ligaments, tendons, joints, spleen, and bones respectively. Saturday I plan to incorporate yoga to stretch and flex all those soft tissues and joints. I may also alternate that with cardio to focus on the circulation component.

Sunday is, of course, the Sun’s day and that means it is Leo’s time to shine. Leo rules our heart, spine, and back.

  • Upright Row

  • Dumbbell Rotate

  • Single Arm Row

  • Bent over row

Set 2

  • Single Leg Row

  • Front Raise to Lateral Raise

  • Dumbbell Shrugs

  • Glute Bridges
